The Memphis Zoo welcomed two new female Sumatran tiger cubs born Aug.
12 to mom Dari and dad Badar. Zoo staff is monitoring their health as the public votes on names from Saturday, Sept. 5 until Tuesday, Sept. 15.
🎭 Culture
The Metal Museum had its grand opening Saturday at Overton Park when it moved into the former Memphis College of Art building (after a decade and $35 million investment).
The new campus will host community events and artist workshops.
John Doyle, who led Rock ’n’ Soul Museum for 23 years, will step down on September 25, with Cynthia Ham (former Memphis in May International Festival leader) named Interim Executive Director.

Healthier 901 Fest returns for its 4th annual community wellness day — hosted by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare at Shelby Farms Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; attendees can enjoy fitness activities, healthy food, live entertainment, and wellness resources.
🏈 Sports
The Memphis Tigers are giving away 2,000 free tickets for their home opener at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium against Arkansas State, kicking off at 6 p.m. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come basis — fans are limited to 4 per account.
Memphis beat Arkansas State 42-24 in its home opener at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium; Jaylin Carter scored four touchdowns & the Tigers now sit at 2-0 and will face Boise State next Saturday.
