The Germantown Festival is celebrating its 53rd year this weekend with a free event at the Germantown Civic Club Complex from noon to 6 p.m. The festival offers arts & crafts, rides, children’s activities, live entertainment, food, and a dachshund race with free shuttles available.
St. Patrick Catholic Church in downtown held a ceremony on Sunday to bless its restored bell tower and cross as part of its 160th anniversary — the final step in a project that will soon see the church's roof and other rooms updated.

Frida's Mexican Restaurant announced its Collierville location will close after 10 years in business.
The final day is Sunday, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m., while the Memphis location at 1718 Madison Ave stays open.

United Festival celebrated Latin American music, food and community on Sunday at Beale Street Landing in Tom Lee Park ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month starting Tuesday.
The event featured cumbia performances, dance competitions and a competitive burrito eating contest (highlighting innovative local twists).
